TANGERANG – Three teams of MMT UMN students won one Innovation Platinum Award and two Bronze Awards in the “International Business and Management Virtual Innovation of Ideas Competition (VIIIC 2023)” in October 2023. These three business ideas also offer environmentally friendly technological solutions.
The international competition was organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Alam, Malaysia. The competition, held every two years, is a forum for academics and industry to share innovative ideas and product commercialization.
Dr Djohan Gunawan Hasan, M.M., MMT UMN lecturer and also one of the team’s mentors, revealed that this competition was prepared for approximately two months. Starting from brainstorming business ideas from students to evaluating business ideas.
Djohan guided a team of MMT UMN students: Veronica N.G., James Hartanu, Conny Santoso, and Andhika Virya. They won the Bronze Award at VIIIC 2023 with the business idea “GOPOTTY, Your Reliable Partner For On-The-Go Sanitation Needs.”
In summary, the GOPOTTY business idea provides convenient and hygienic portable toilet services to achieve environmental sanitation. “The basis of this business idea is to help fulfil the need for toilet facilities in outdoor activities, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic,” Djohan explained.
Besides GOPOTTY, there is also the business idea “The Modern Urban Farming with Minimum Effort and Maximum Result: A Way to Increase Healthy Living, Food Security, Income Supplement and Environmental Education.” Anugrah Rizky Novan Pradana, Sigit Prasetyo, Prisilia Ines, Cifran Hiu, and Stella Poh worked on this business idea. They also won the Bronze Award.
“This business idea was created to maximize the function of narrow urban land for financial, educational, and environmental improvement purposes,” Anugrah said.
Anugrah admitted that creating this business idea was inseparable from the knowledge he gained at MMT UMN. Starting from analysis, business and financial strategies, to software management. He and his team also feel proud of their achievement through this business idea. This modern urban farming project is expected to be a solution to create a clean environment but also be profitable in business.
“I hope that Skystar Venture or other financiers will finance this business idea, considering the promising opportunities,” Anugrah concluded.
Then, there is also a team of MMT UMN students who won the Innovation Platinum Award with the idea “Road Map Into 5.0 Industry: A Disruptive Sustainable Energy and Application Using Micro.” They consist of Erlando Dominico Hensan B. S., Era Farameita, Muhamad Habifian, Ni Luh Devi Kusuma Wati, and An Nisaa Syauqi.
Erlando explained that the idea for this business started from concerns over the issue of global warming and environmental damage. One of them is related to the use of fuel and coal. This business idea also offers the use of bacteria as a new energy source. Hopefully, this business idea can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create new jobs.
“We recognize this great opportunity and chance. We are collaborating with ‘Green Mobius’, a startup that has just been established to develop sustainable energy,” Erlando explained.
