January 29, 2016Nusantara. With bhinneka tunggal ika although there are differences finally united with one goal, one language, one spirit. This spirit of unity is what is trying to be poured by visual communication design (DKV) students in various art concepts that can express the archipelago in the current form. Although coming from four different interests, DKV students interested in Graphic Design, Animation, Cinematography, and Interactive Media Design collaborated to showcase their best work in nusakarya’s Joint Art Exhibition titled Unity.
“Nusakarya stands for Nusantara Berkarya. Nusa or the complete nusantara is taken from the last word, Multimedia Nusantara University. While unity means unity or wholeness where the work of students exhibited in this Nusakarya exhibition despite its differences but still has unity,” said Zamzami Almakki, Trustee of DKV UMN Gallery at nusakarya exhibition in Alam Sutera Mall, Tangerang, Friday (22/1).
A total of more than 70 of the best works that have been assessed and curated by the jury are exhibited in this Nusakarya event. These works include photographs, traditional painting, digital painting, illustration, board games, calligraphy, collage, paper craft, animation, and film.
Zamzami hopes that the inaugural exhibition conducted by students of DKV UMN off campus can get a good appreciation by the community. “It is hoped that Nusakarya can be a place for students to compete healthily in producing the best works. In addition, through this off-campus exhibition, we also expect to get aspirations and input from the community so that later students can work better,” added the DKV lecturer. (*)
