Two UMN VCD Students Triumphed at The INDDEX Design Degree Show 2022
September 20, 2022UMN Lecturers Encourage Creative Teachers and Principals
September 21, 2022TANGERANG – To boost entrepreneurship among UMN VCD and Management students, the UMN VCD Study Program held an Entrepreneurship Internship Seminar on Thursday (08/9) at the Lecture Hall, Building C, of the Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) Campus.
Fonita Theresia Yoliando, S.Ds., M.A., the Head of the UMN VCD Study Program, in her opening remarks, explained that this activity was the first seminar in a series of entrepreneurship internship programs, the latest program from UMN VCD. This seminar also invited two keynote speakers who are entrepreneurs in the creative industry, namely Jordi Hendrisa and Nastia Purawinata ES.
Opening up the presentation session, Jordi Hendrisa, the co-founder of Bujang Rimba, shared his experiences and knowledge with the audience. Jordi explained that Bujang Rimba was originally a community-based company producing digital content.
“When we do it jokingly, it entertains people. It turned out to be lucrative now,” Jordi said.
The company has a unique jargon that reads, “a creative powerhouse most serious in joking.” Along its journey, Bujang Rimba then transformed into a larger and broader organization, like a creative agency. Now, Bujang Rimba has called itself an Integrated-multi-power-house entity that provides services such as brand campaigns, brand collaboration, content creation, social media management, brand placement, and so on.
“Cretivepreneurship is a journey to build a career and a livelihood in the creative world, selling ideas and objects of expression,” he said.
Furthermore, Jordi also argues that the output (results) of the creative industry is an intangible idea, so creativepreneurship is how creative people package these ideas so they can become “livelihoods.”
“And there’s no way there’s no friction (issues). You and your partner’s position whether it be equal (the same position) or not, it’s also quite important to talk about it at the beginning,” he continued.
Jordi also stated that having business partners with people not close to you has a higher potential risk. In addition, Jordi also shared several other material points, one of which he explained was related to ‘Toxic-possibility’. He explained that when we provide a particular service, it doesn’t mean we have to take advantage of every opportunity. For him, we should not do things that we feel we are not good at or are not our specialty.
“PALUGADA, in my opinion, is not that good. If we make something, we need to have specific skills. What’s the strength and where,” Jordi firmly explained about Toxic-possibility. Palugada is a popular term in the business world in Indonesia to refer to a business model that does not limit the supply to one type of goods or services.
Furthermore, Jordi also shared his experience regarding trust, dealing with an unstable income, maintaining a reputation & attitude, and aligning it with the quality of work produced.
“Everywhere I go, I grow,” Jordi said, closing his presentation.
In addition to the presentation, this seminar also conducted a Q&A session where the speaker and prospective students for entrepreneurial internships could discuss.
