Tangerang, August 3, 2024—After establishing Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) (2006) and Multimedia Nusantara Polytechnic (2021), the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation is back with Multimedia Nusantara School (MNS). The launch of MNS is part of the founders’ vision, Jakob Oetama and P.K. Ojong, of educating and enlightening the Indonesian people.
MNS held a soft launch at building D, P.K. Ojong—Jakob Oetama Tower, 2nd and 3rd floor, UMN Campus. At the soft launch, the school presented its vision, mission, and curriculum, and a trial class for children was held. In the early stages, MNS will provide classes ranging from Kiddy Club to Playgroup, Kindergarten, and Primary 1-3.
“We provide many facilities and programs, such as comfortable physical facilities and psychological facilities, so that students are happy at school and can develop social and cognitive skills. Our value is still in accordance with Kompas Group’s value 5C: caring, credible, competent, competitive, and customer delight,” Theresia Listyawati, the Principal of MNS, said.
Theresia believes that education does not only pursue academic achievement but also exists to shape students’ character into a whole person. MNS is expected to answer the challenges of the times by giving birth to a generation that is creative, innovative, and has high social awareness.
“Multimedia Nusantara School will use three curricula—the Merdeka Curriculum, the Pearson Curriculum, and the Sustainability Life Skill Development Curriculum—that we initiated ourselves, so there will still be a combination of national and international curricula,” Theresia continued.
MNS provides many facilities for children, such as playgrounds, extracurricular activities, and classrooms. It also incorporates technology engagement in its system, like a School Management System that parents can access to check out the school activities. Another important facility is the Mental-Character Development and Entrepreneurship Laboratory for children up to high school age.
“Our vision is to initiate future tech-savvy leaders sensitive to the social environment. Through quality education, we want to produce a generation that can contribute significantly to Indonesia 2045 and the world,” Theresia said.
The purpose of opening MNS is to expand the level of education at the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation. It is also a strategic step to address the times’ challenges and meet the community’s need for quality education, specifically in the Gading Serpong, BSD, or Greater Tangerang area.
MNS differs from other schools because it focuses on technology and innovation. Learning at MNS will be based on technology and developing skills that are relevant in the future. Another difference is that MNS focuses on character development and entrepreneurship. MNS does not only focus on academic knowledge but also on students’ character and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
“My hope is twofold: Synergy and Visionary. I hope all involved can synergize, be present, and contribute to the same vision. I believe this school stems from the basic philosophy of the founders of Kompas Gramedia, who were very committed to education– we are now the translators. For the future, I hope this school belongs to all of us and the children can reach their greatest potential as modern human beings of Indonesia and the world,” Theresia concluded.
