April 7, 2022JAKARTA – Nusakara Artspace FSD UMN collaborates with the Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC) to present the art and design TISDC Winner Exhibition 2021 entitled “Regenerate.” The exhibition, which was held at Hublife Taman Anggrek Residences, took place in March 2022 and was open to the public free of charge.
TISDC itself is an international art and design competition event initiated by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and is intended for college students. First held in 2010, TISDC has become an annual event that, in 2021, has reached 21,901 submissions from 59 countries. This year, TISDC chose UMN as a partner in exhibiting works of art and designs from the winners of TISDC 2021. In 2021, TISDC was inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) launched by the United Nations hence the theme “Regenerate.” With this theme, students are encouraged to use their creativity and existing works as the foundation for exploring new ideas for the future.
The categories of works displayed in this exhibition are Visual Design, Product Design, Digital Animation, and Short Movie. Nusakara FSD UMN also took part as a TISDC collaboration partner in exhibiting 40 works of TISDC 2021 winners.

UMN)Other than exhibitions, this event is also supported by the FSD Lab to present workshops on “Basic of Digital Drawing” and “Virtual Reality Drawing.” The two workshops, which are open to the public for free, are expected to provide a different experience for visitors to try producing works of art through the sophistication of interactive digital devices.
The event, which was held in the capital city, also did not escape the presence of several parties involved in its preparation and implementation. The parties who were present and gave speeches were Muhammad Cahya Mulya Daulay, S.Sn., M.Ds., the Dean of FSD UMN. Fonita Theresia Yoliando, S.Ds., M.A., the Head of the Visual Communication Design Study Program. Rani Aryani Widjono, S.Sn., M.Ds., the Guiding Lecturer for Nusakara DKV. In an exclusive interview, Fonita explained that it was time for art and design works to get a broader space in exposing their works. After several years without holding exhibitions in the public sphere, in 2022, the Faculty of Art and Design UMN, together with the Nusakara Artspace Gen 1 committee, facilitated the TISDC Winner Exhibition to be realized in this pandemic era. She also explained the reasons why this exhibition was held.
“So what we are discussing right now is a past competition (but) then we exhibit it. So hopefully, through this exhibition, we can appreciate what we have done in the past and can inspire us to do something more in the present. It is also hoped that it can inspire others in the future,” Fonita explained.
Albert Marvindo as a representative of Hublife, in his remarks, admitted that ASRI, which is the developer of Hublife, carries the DNA of “art & creativity.” On that basis, Hublife also sees UMN, especially their Arts and Design Faculty, have the same vision in this regard.
Furthermore, Fonita also explained that Nusakara Artspace results from a rebranding of the “FSD Gallery,” which was transformed to have a strong brand image if brought outside the campus.
Nusakara itself is an adaptation of the word “Nusa,” which is the primary value adopted by UMN, and the word “Akara” from the Sanskrit language, which means “form or appearance.” The word describes Nusakara Artspace, which is engaged in fine arts and design, formed with the passion to becoming an art space and support for UMN FSD students through practical and communicative exhibitions of works.
Despite being in the middle of the pandemic, the TISDC Winner Exhibition 2021 “Regenerate” has successfully attracted visitors’ attention every day. Conducted in the collaboration space “K-Hub” provided by Hublife, this annual exhibition has been received with enthusiasm from 274 visitors in its first days.
