March 1, 2018Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) not only focuses on providing hardskill lessons to its students, but soft skills learning is also the focus of learning. Soft skills learned can be in the form of training to each new student. There are various kinds of training that must be followed by students, one of which is teamwork and leadership training.
Entering the even semester, new students in the class of 2017 are required to take teamwork and leadership training on Saturday, (24/2). This training is the second time after previously participating in character building training. Teamwork and leadership training is a training on how a student works in a team to create a goal or project and how the student can adapt to his team so that the final goal can be achieved.
“The goal is to instill how the participants coordinate in the team so that they develop themselves, put themselves, get in what kind of team, according to different backgrounds,” said Andri Seto Baskoro, Student Development Officer.
Seto also added that this year the theme raised about “Entrepreneurship”. Where students who have formed a group are asked to create a startup-based business idea within one week made in the form of a proposal. During the period of making business ideas students will be guided by their respective mentors who are students development or lecturers.
Before they make a business idea, at the first meeting that falls on Saturday (24/2) they are certainly equipped with materials about entrepreneurship and also material about group dynamics. The entrepreneurship material presented by Skystar Ventures is about startup-based business development. Then the group dynamics material presented by the student development is more about how to adapt in the group, build trust in the group, coordinate in groups, share job descriptions so that they can work together in the team until the project is completed.
In this year’s teamwork and leadership training, participants participated in 1975 students consisting of the 2017 class and some students from the 2012-2016 class. This training is also carried out in three large rooms, namely Lecture Hall, Lecture Theater, and also Student Lounge.
There will be 150 business ideas that will be judging on March 3, 2017 tomorrow. At this judging stage, students are asked to present the results of their business ideas and display a visualization of their products.
“Participants should present explain their business ideas and display visualizations of their products. The clearer the visualization the better the value,” Seto added.
After judging, there will be selected 50 groups with the best business ideas and the right to showcase their business ideas in an expo that is planned to be held at The UMN Building. After that skystar will choose the 5 best teams with the best business ideas and 5 best leaders. They will get an interesting prize.
“We set the theme of entrepreneurship this year we hope that participants who do not know at all about entrepreneurship can open their eyes so that they at least have the will or interest to become entrepreneurs who themselves become the vision of the mission umn print entrepreneurs. In addition to our burden with the project, they also learn to coordinate with the group, adapt in the group,” seto concluded. (YC)
