February 11, 2022TANGERANG – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is responsible for supporting the government in the national vaccination program as part of the Indonesian education system. One form of support is participating in the Merdeka Campus Program by implementing solutions to national problems. Therefore, UMN collaborated with the Indonesia Australia Partnership Program for Health Security (AIHSP) by launching the Nusantara Health Security Project.
Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences UMN Andrey Andoko said that the partnership program with AIHSP is part of UMN’s vision to strengthen international partnerships.
“We hope that the Nusantara Health Security Project will be successful. Thank you, AIHSP for the opportunity. I hope we can continue to partner in the future,” said Andrey during the online launch of the Nusantara Health Security Project on Wednesday (9/2).
Agreeing with Andrey, AIHSP Team Leader John Leigh said that his party is also pleased to be partnering with UMN to support health resilience in Indonesia to be better protected against various health threats. This partnership involves fellow students to develop a two-way communication strategy about vaccination and the Covid-19 pandemic with hard-to-reach target populations, such as the elderly and people with disabilities.
“Through the Nusantara Health Security Project, I hope my fellow students can learn and become professional cadres committed to using multimedia to protect life together. We understand that communication and multimedia can play an important role in encouraging changes in people’s behavior in protecting themselves and their families,” explained John.
The UMN and AIHSP partnership program is carried out by providing enrichment to selected UMN students. Students will actively contribute to implementing risk communication about vaccination and the Covid-19 pandemic in the work area and AIHSP’s target audience, namely the elderly and people with disabilities.
Furthermore, UMN Project Leader Irwan Fakhruddin, explained that the Nusantara Health Security Project involves and empowers students in conducting public campaigns and communicating risks around the national vaccination program. The selected UMN students were divided into three teams. Each team consists of six students with various roles as follows:
- Campaign Planner
- Community Relations / Media Relations
- Social Media Strategist
- Copywriter/Content Writer
- Videographer
- Visual Designer
“This project is a wonderful collaboration, where universities can be more grounded and contribute to real social problems in our country. This partnership covers the three pillars of higher education in the field of teaching and the fields of research and community service. Hopefully, this project can be replicated in other areas related to public health issues and other universities. The happy learning process, fellow students! Hopefully, you can produce useful outcomes for this country,” concluded Irwan. (CRA)
