October 25, 2021TANGERANG – Ultigraph UMN 2021, an activity held every two years by students of UMN Visual Communication Design Study Program, again held various seminars and workshops. “Brand Customer Experience” became one of a series of seminars held virtually on Saturday morning (23/10/21). On this occasion, Ultigraph UMN invited CX Design Director & Co-founder of Maina (part of FCN), Desiree Tilaar.
Through this seminar, Desiree shared an understanding of how to use design thinking methods to create an optimal brand experience for customers. According to him, the main idea of brand communication experience optimization is about continuous innovation.
“Everything is innovation because actually innovation is solving a human problem. [Innovation is] everything that is created for solving problems and creating value for its users,” desiree said.
Furthermore, Desiree said this design thinking can be used to help brands innovate so as to improve their customer experience. First, he sees design thinking as an approach to solving problems. This means that the brand does not focus on the product, but on the experience and solutions that can be provided to its customers (human experience).

UMN)”Second, design thinking is a collaborative process, where we work together as a team involving a stakeholder. Third, design thinking is an interactive process or approach. That is, it must always be improved in order to constantly keep up with the customer experience, “desiree continued.
Desiree also says the most important part of design thinking is learning from failure. He said we must be able to learn from our mistakes to find the right solution for our customers. He also emphasized that innovation must be aimed at certain segments and needs so that a brand can create value that is in accordance with its targets.

This year, Ultigraph UMN 2021 carries the theme “Kara Anagata” with the hope of updating the mindset of graphic designers towards a design so that it can have an impact on society. Ultigraph UMN 2021 this time consists of various series of interesting events, such as competitions, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and Awarding Night.
