November 9, 2015Violations of the speed limit are one of the biggest factors that cause accidents after the driver’s delay and inattention to regulations. Therefore, the Directorate of Land Transportation Safety director general of land transportation of the Ministry of Transportation feels the need to make regulations related to speed limits in driving.
This was stated by the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Cucu Mulyana in the Discussion of The Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 111 of 2015 on The Procedure for Setting Speed Limits at the New Media Tower UMN, Wednesday (4/11). He explained that the issuance of the latest Permenhub is expected to reduce the number of accidents and even road deaths.
“There is a positive correlation between vehicle speed and the risk of death in the event of an accident. The faster the speed of the vehicle, the higher the risk of death faced. In addition, during 2014, the data said that people who died due to accidents reached above 28 thousand and the total accidents that occurred reached 900 thousand incidents, “said Cucu.
He suggested that in addition to maintaining the speed of the vehicle on the road, the driver should also understand what should be prepared before driving and how to drive safely. Some preparations before driving are to check the condition of the vehicle, make sure the body is healthy and not sleepy, check the condition of car light tires, and wipers, wear a safety belt, and do not forget to understand the features in the vehicle.
Not only that, Cucu also advises when driving we must understand how to process the correct steering, braking methods, overall car condition, body limits, and safe driving distance.
“The safe distance between the car in front of us is 3 seconds in accordance with our speed. In dry conditions with a speed of 25 km / h means the safe distance in question is 3 meters, while the speed of 50 km / h becomes 12 meters, and the speed of 100 km / h becomes 45 meters. These three seconds are needed so that the driver has enough space to avoid or stop the vehicle,” he said.
Have you driven right, Ultimates? (*)
