August 22, 2024Jakarta – The Master of Communication Science at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) will hold a public lecture as well as welcome new students from Batch 7 of the Master of Communication Science program, bringing the theme of “AI & the Future of Strategic Communication on (24/08). This public lecture will be held at Menara Kompas, UMN Campus, Central Jakarta.
This public lecture will invite a keynote speaker, Associate Professor Younbo Jung, Ph.D, from Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information and Nanyang Technological University. This public lecture is moderated by Putri Indonesia Persahabatan 2023, Christine Priscilla Malau, who is an active student of Master of Communication Science Batch 5.
This public lecture will discuss how one of the advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the field of strategic communication, starting from the uses of AI, challenges, and ethics. AI in strategic communication can indeed improve and optimize marketing and public relations. Hence, this public lecture will explore the future of AI in the field of strategic communication.
Prof. Jung will deliver several key points in this public lecture, including the role and overview of AI in strategic communication, including marketing communication, corporate communication, journalism, social media, and other digital communication. In addition, Prof. Jung will discuss the benefits and opportunities that exist, challenges and ethics, and trends and innovations in the future.
“We chose this topic because there are many questions related to AI as part of the advancement of technology. This development has the potential to change the relationship between humans and technology, and how it impacts the field of communication, so this topic is interesting to discuss. Indeed, we will always face changing times, but the most important thing is how we prepare ourselves to face it; because we cannot fight technological advances, we must look critically at what we can use,” Ignatius said.
This public lecture was held so professionals and practitioners know how to implement good AI in strategic communication. In addition, the selection of this theme aims to give students and teachers a new perspective and inspire them to do scientific research related to AI.
“My message to students is that we must always be open to learning new things. Starting from small things to significant things such as the emergence of AI. We do not need to be afraid of new developments, but we must be able to adjust and utilize technological advances for our benefit,” Ignasius concluded.
