Dr. Andrey Delivering Material on Digital Media Disruption (Doc. UMN).
Tangerang – Pojok Komunikasi (Communication Corner) was held on (05/07), this time Pojok Komunikasi discussed digital disruption in traditional media presented by Dr. Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc.
This time, Pojok Komunikasi brought the theme of Digital Disruption in the business sector. Dr. Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., as Vice-Rector for General Administration and Finance presented material on “The Role of Organizational Ambidexterity, Organizational Unlearning and Business Model Innovation in Digital Transformation.”
The material briefly discusses how technology becomes a digital disruption. This technological disruption is also caused by the media, seeing how traditional media is displaced due to digitalization, even though there are qualified resources in the company.
According to Andrey, digital technology has brought big changes to the company, this innovation can bring changes to the company such as obsolete knowledge turning into competence, this is also what makes all companies have to make digital changes either for business progress or support their products.
“The research I did focused on traditional media such as print, television, and radio. The presence of the internet and digital media has changed the media landscape, coupled with smartphones and social media changing the way people consume information. Currently, social media is the main media, so traditional media and print fall,” Andrey said.
The research conducted by Andrey questions the main problem of why the traditional media industry that was once victorious now cannot keep up because of digital media.
“Please note two different contributions in this research, the theoretical contribution is to answer the existing gap and contribute to the literature with a multidimensional approach. While the contribution to society is what factors influence digital media, the ideal contribution is if we can save the media we can save democracy,” Andrey continued.
Andrey further elaborated on theoretical contributions such as Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO), and Organizational Ambidexterity (OA). Knowing the role of Organizational Unlearning (UO) and Business Model Innovation (BMI) in digital transformation. Finally, it enriches the application of the theory in Resource-Base View (BRV) and Dynamic Capabilities (DC) business glasses.
The results of these theoretical implications prove that Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) is an organizational inclination towards entrepreneurship that does not affect performance directly but through Organisational Ambidexterity (OA) as an entrepreneurial action.
Andrey also stated that past success is not for future success but the most important liability is the procedure, and how it is currently developing. For example, looking at the current business models, writing on social media platforms should be short.
