Ninok quoted a French proverb which translates as “Those who have the honor bear the responsibility.” He said, “Students should reflect on the purpose of learning.” According to him, graduation is not just about pursuing a diploma but also the quality of life with other skills.
This year’s inaugural lecture presented Citra Giofany as the keynote speaker, who is also an alumnus of UMN’s Management Program 2013 and is currently the Global Account Director of Strategic Conglomerate at SAP Indonesia.
When opening her speech, she expressed gratitude for completing her studies at UMN. She motivated the new students that the choice of studying at UMN was the right one because of technology literacy.
“What skills should I build now so that I have what skills when I graduate?” Citra said. For her, we must dream as high as possible, even to the moon, as ugly as we may fall among the stars.
Lectures for the Odd Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year Will Begin Next Monday
Citra explained the advantages of AI and emphasized that there is no need to worry that AI will replace humans. AI is an assistant or co-pilot for her, and we (humans) are the pilots. AI does repetitive tasks so humans can focus on other tasks.
Citra also exemplifies the work of journalists using AI. Journalists can capture events, and then AI generates the initial draft. With this practice, journalists have more output and create content more easily. However, journalists need to recheck their writing to see whether it is free of bias and so on.

“With AI, we can reduce repetitive tasks so that we can focus more. But don’t fear being replaced by AI because AI cannot match human intelligence. To compete with AI, we must embrace the development of AI to create more innovation opportunities. Focus on what really matters, only think about the essence,” said Citra.
Lectures for the Odd Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year will begin on Monday, August 28, 2023. Before starting the lecture, at the Inaugural Lecture event, the new students said the student promise loudly and proudly.
