September 6, 2021TANGERANG – Despite uncertainties during the pandemic, academic collaborations and partnerships continues to thrive. On September 3rd 2020, Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) and Baliuag University (BU) virtually signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their partnership.
The virtual signing is represented by BU’s President, Dr. Patricia Bustos Lagunda, BU’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Flordeliza A. Castro, UMN’s Rector, Dr. Ninok Leksono, and UMN’s Vice Rector of Relations of Cooperations, Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto.
“This ceremonial event is special. Knowing in this challenging time, we still move on finding new friends and collaborations. We value dearly our friends and partners for in time of mobility restrictions and isolations, we could still talk and arrange programs for the benefits of our institutions,” said Dr. Ninok Leksono, Rector of Multimedia Nusantara University during his opening remarks.
Prior to this partnership, UMN and BU worked together for the International Virtual Research Conference 2021 (IVRC) that was executed on the 5th and 6th of August 2021.
Dr. Patricia Bustos Lagunda, the President of Baliuag University expressed her delight that the IVRC conducted last month led to this worldwide endeavour. She hopes that this partnership will be a starting point for a friendship in education.

“The prolonged pandemic may have caused a lot of challenges but on the flip side, it has compelled institutions like us to seek opportunities, to be more creative, and innovative. Utilizing technology and profelled our organizations to look not just inwards but outwards, thinking outside the box. This partnership is one of the good things that is happening for both of our institutions during the pandemic,” said Dr. Lagunda.
With this partnership, UMN and BU will exercise reasonable efforts to promote the following programs: Joined conduct of virtual conferences and webinar, virtual exchange of academic information and publications, joined research, periodic online conference between partners, exchange of journal peer reviewers, joined organizations in conduct of conferences and other academic meetings, virtual hosting of conferences and webinars, virtual exchange of faculty guest lecturers, and exchange of students for immersion and advancement.
There are so many opportunities ahead and a lot of mutual benefits for the growth of UMN and BU. As international university partnerships can provide huge and positive opportunities for not only the institutions but also for the lecturers, staff, and students.
“We shall promise that when the pandemic is over, we can visit each other’s campuses and deepen our cooperations. As for now, let’s as make the best for whatever we can do to keep the spirit of academic life alive,” said Dr. Leksono.
