December 9, 2021TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) dan Silla University with The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) hosted a virtual event on smart factory and cloud big data on the 7th and 8th of December 2021.
As reported before, UMN and Silla University worked together and established KOICA-Silla-UMN 4th Industrial Revolution Technical Center (KSU_4IRTC). KSU_4IRTC is a training center to produce specialists who can support sustainable development in the field of revolution 4.0 technology.
This collaboration received a grant fund for the establishment of a laboratory from The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), a government organization established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea.
To keep up with the current trends on Industry 4.0, KOICA-Silla-UMN invited a bunch of speakers to talk about the event’s theme “Smart Factory Workshop & Cloud Big Data Forum” and of course, around Industry 4.0.
One of the speakers, Dr. Riska A. Sutrisnowati a senior research engineer at IOChord, Korea explained that the term Industry 4.0 is firstly used by the German government in 2011 as a strategy in manufacturing industry that includes digitalization and automation capabilities.
A flexible production system with connected processes and operations that can self-optimize performance, adapt to, and learn from new conditions in real-time that can autonomously run production processes.
“Since then, new perspectives of this concept emerged worldwide: the United States refers to “Smart Manufacturing”, Japan with “Innovation 25”, China with “Made in China 2025”, and Korea with “Manufacturing Innovation 2.0”,” explained Dr. Sutrisnowati.

The simplest and closest example of the implementation of smart factory and cloud big data to most of us is “Smart City”.
Dr. Jang Jong Wook, a professor in Dong Eui University in Korea shared how Busan, a city in South Korea adopted the “Busan Eco-Delta Smart City (EDC) 4 Industrial Revolution Technology”.
“Smart city is to increase the Value of City with the synergies of man-natural-technology. Citizens will benefit from the quality of life, better health, new jobs, time and convenience, 100% recycling – zero emissions, and a 20% increase in renewable energy,” said Dr. Jang.
He also shared that there’s a new digital policy in Korea called D.N.A (Data, Network, AI) + G-Cloud. This digital policy hopes to lead innovative growth and spread convergence by building D.N.A.
“This will activate the data industry which is a key resource in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Also establishing a hyper-connected intelligent network such as 5G mobile communications and securing the competitiveness of intelligent technologies like AI,” said Dr. Jang.
This event successfully showcased the various kinds of smart factory and cloud big data implementations. It is hoped that the presentations and discussions done in this event will inspire new ideas and collaborations in the future.
