Tangerang – On (25/06), The National Student Competition for Business, Management, and Financial Sciences (Kompetisi Mahasiswa Nasional Bidang Ilmu Bisnis, Manajemen, dan Keuangan/KBMK) activity was officially opened by the UMN Rectorate and also the National Achievement. There are five branches of the KBMK 2024 competition, and KBMK runs for five days from various universities in Indonesia.
The opening of the 2024 KBMK activity was held on (25/06). Various representatives attended the event: Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, M.Si., Head of the National Achievement Center; Dr. Ninok Leksono, M.A., UMN Rector; Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., UMN Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Ir. Andrey Andoko, UMN Vice-Rector for General Administration and Finance; Ika Yanuarti, S.E., M.S.F., UMN Vice-Rector for Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc., UMN Vice-Rector for Relations and Cooperation; and Dr. Winarno PM, UMN Vice-Rector for Institute of Research and Community Service. Also attended by Andri Seto Baskara, the Chief Executive of the activity.
KBMK 2024 was successfully held at UMN. This year, UMN had the opportunity to host this activity. The theme was “Exploring Opportunities for Responsible Production and Consumption and the Application of Circular Economy in the Era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 to Accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable National Economic Transformation within the Framework of Business, Management and Finance Sciences.” A total of 157 universities qualified for the semifinalist round.
In 2024, the KBMK competition have five branches: the scientific paper writing competition, the Commercialization of Research and Appropriate Technology Competition, the Investment Research Competition, and the Business Planning Competition.

“I am very grateful to UMN for hosting and contributing to this KBMK 2024 activity. I hope that with this activity we can continue to develop achievements and talents for the current generation. There needs to be an understanding that KBMK is not only a competition, but also absorbing existing knowledge, building networks, so that there is a lot of learning that can be obtained, and this is a valuable thing,” Maria said in the opening.
According to Maria, KBMK is also very relevant and does not only look at science scientifically but rotates. She advised students to understand current finance, economic behavior, and business issues because each individual’s financial attitude is unique.

“I am happy that this year’s KBMK activity can be held on the UMN campus. Hopefully, this KBMK competition can run smoothly. Although there are many challenges, there are also many hopes that are raised. The creation of superior human resources so that they can be a hope for Indonesia,” said Ninok in the activity’s opening.
In addition, talk shows were conducted. Ancha Apriansyah, Corporate Senior Marketing Communication Manager at JHL Collection, presented the first talk show. In this session, Ancha discussed how the hospitality sector operates.
“When looking at the hospitality business, many things must be considered, starting with the service provided to guests. Another important thing is to differentiate yourself from other hotels. We distinguish ourselves in the form of residence and provide more complete facilities.

Gito Sabata presented the second talk show, .Temu’s Chief Marketing Officer. It focused on the F&B business and Gito’s journey to create .Temu.
“I did choose the concept of .Temu with a good concept, from ambience to place setup. So the concept of .Temu coffee shop is different in each place, there are outdoor, communal, semi-indoor and others,” Gito said.
Gito also expressed his personal opinion, “Businesses cannot look solely from one side, for example, focusing on income or marketing alone. But businesses must see from many sides and also be equal so that they complement each other.”
Preparations for this KBMK started at the end of 2023, together with the Cooperation Team of the Indonesian Talent Development Center (Balai Pengembangan Talenta Indonesia BPTI), the Internal Student Affairs team, and UMN students.

“It is a pride for us that the committee team can be trusted to be the organizer of one of the Ministry of Research and Technology’s talent events, through BPTI, so that UMN’s name can be known by universities in UMN. The implementation of KBMK is also one of the future milestones of UMN student affairs and can inspire UMN students to participate in various business competitions,” said Seto.
