Andrey Andoko, Vice Rector of UMN explained that the construction of Tower 3 UMN was made in such a way that the use of energy in the building was not wasteful. “All the architecture in Tower 3 supports energy use to be more efficient. Tower 3 has many open spaces that use natural air vents that are still cool. Thus, the building becomes quite comfortable to use for lectures and work. The use of air conditioning can also be reduced so that the energy used to cool the room can be reduced a lot, “said Andrey.
In addition, Teddy Surianto, Chairman of Multimedia Nusantara Foundation said the purpose of the construction of Tower 3 is to accommodate the teaching and learning activities of UMN students. “The increasing number of students makes the need for more room capacity increases. This is also to provide accommodation for teaching and learning activities for them as mandated by kompas Gramedia founder, Dr. (HC) Jakob Oetama. Today through the construction of Tower 3 which carries environmentally friendly tea, we all carry out the vision of Kompas Gramedia Group’s mission,” he said.
Like the New Media Tower Building, Tower 3 also uses double skins that allow to control the intensity of light and sunlight entering the room so that the room is quite cold and bright. The existence of roof gardens in some locations not only makes Tower 3 more beautiful but also makes the air cooler. Then, air chimneys that take advantage of the difference in air pressure make the basement will not need to use an electric fan.
