December 14, 2017The role of Multimedia Nusantara University in fostering the spirit of nationalism and upholding diversity does not only stop at one activity. Yenny Wahid’s oration in the Open Senate Session – The Inaugural Lecture of Multimedia Nusantara University last September, is the first step to equip the younger generation to be more wise to respond to the rampant issues of nation division.
Following up on this, Multimedia Nusantara University in graduation XII which this time graduated 669 scholars, presented a state activist Yudi Latif, who was recently also appointed as Head of the Presidential Working Unit of the Pancasila Ideology Stabilization Section (UKP-PIP). Carrying the theme “Bachelor of Excellence and Nationality“, Graduation XII became a form of real commitment of Multimedia Nusantara University in equipping its graduates to be able to provide the best work for alma mater, persada, and others.
In his oration, Yudi outlined the importance of having a vision in statehood. “The state should have a vision, which is that the happiness of the country must be punished by providing freedom, justice, and prosperity. Differences are not the basis of contention. It is precisely that difference that strengthens the creation of a differentiated and sustainable ecosystem,” he said.
Yudi also advised UMN graduates to not only rely on intelligence, but also to be able to control themselves with the real conditions of their people. “Universities can no longer generalize their resources into one category of intelligence. Because these resources will be renewable resources that will give rise to innovation that is ready to compete in the international world,” he concluded.
Ninok Leksono, Rector of UMN, emphasized that Pancasila is the foundation that must be used as a handle, an important guide, because Pancassila is a philosophy of national and state life. “The ideal people for Indonesia are those who live and practice the five precepts of Pancasila. With that it is expected that UMN alumni will not only excel in the field of science and profession, but in harmony with their society. He is godly, humane, upholds unity, prioritizes deliberation, and fights for social justice,” he said.

In addition, Ninok also advised UMN alumnus to continue to ignite the soul and spirit of Pancasila in the career and life of society and nation. “By adhering to the values of Pancasila, I hope that graduates are not uprooted from their national roots. Although there may be a career abroad, by continuing to live the values of Pancasila, it is hoped that graduates can continue to be eager for humanity, unity, deliberation and justice”, ninok explained as a hope for the implementation of graduation XII UMN this time.
In Graduation XII UMN, selected 7 best graduates representing 7 Study Programs. They are Vannia Ferdina (Informatics Engineering), Bobby Fernando (Visual Communication Design), Gabrielle Agatha (Communication Science), Tommy Utomo Wijaya (Information Systems), Davin Valerian (Accounting), Rivaldy Febriansyah (Management), and William Suyanto (Computer Systems). Vania Ferdina, a graduate of informatics engineering study program came out as the University’s Best Student with a GPA of 3.99.
In addition, UMN Skystar Ventures Business Incubator was also selected as the only institution from Indonesia invited by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to attend the meeting of the largest youth conference in the Middle East, Misk Global Forum 2017. The event was held on November 14-17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. On this occasion, Skystar Ventures delegated three startups built, namely Jobmine Indonesia, Dreambox, and Youthmanual. Rachel Maharani (Communication Science) who is also a graduate at Graduation XII, is the Founder and CEO of Jobmine Indonesia.
It is a tradition and characteristic for UMN to raise the theme of regionality in its graduation activities. Graduation XII this time themed indigenous from Rote area, East Nusa Tenggara. The stage layout and all the decoration of the activity area are also made in the nuances of the Rote area. Not only that, UMN also performs regional dances and NTT regional songs to enliven the nuances of regionality at the GRADUATION XII UMN. (*)
