June 26, 2015School holidays are not only synonymous with traveling with family or friends, playing or even relaxing at home. There are other ways that are no less fun can be done to fill the free time that exists. One of them is by participating in workshop and internship activities held at UMN on Tuesday (23/6) – Friday (10/7).
As many as 100 high school and vocational school students in Jakarta and Tangerang decided to increase their knowledge by participating in workshop activities at UMN, Tuesday (23/6)-Wednesday (24/6). In this activity, they can choose 4 topics provided by the campus. The four interesting topics are Behind The Frequency (by UMN Radio), Success in the World of Broadcasting (by UMN TV), How to Engross in Building An Online Based Business (by Skystar Ventures), and Basic Robot Control and Automation (by Computer Systems program).
The students are given knowledge by mentors who are experienced in their fields. For example, tips on becoming a good technopreneur. As a university that has a vision to produce reliable technopreneurs, UMN through Skystar Ventures shares knowledge about the importance of SEO in the world of e-commerce. Vincent Suryaputra from Inigame, skystar ventures’ guided gaming portal, provides some tips related to this.
“It is important for online-based businesses to get to know the proper use of keywords in their online articles. If its use is excessive then Google will immediately impose a penalty on our website. Meanwhile, if you can play beautiful, if certain keywords are searched on Google, then our websites and articles can enter into google’s top search. This is important in the world of e-commerce,” vincent explained.
As an ICT-based campus, the mentors of sk study program also invited participants of the Basic Robot Control and Automation workshop to get to know more about basic microcontrollers. The use of microcontrollers in all aspects of human life is widespread. One of them is to find out the water level during the flood.
“The most important thing in making a microcontroller is to get to know our concepts completely. Thus we know what we have to use, ranging from programming languages to the right sensors,” said Amelia Wonosardono, mentor of SK UMN program.
The excitement of the workshop doesn’t just stop there. Participants who participated in the Workshop Behind Frequency were taught how to broadcast on the radio. Starting from the procedure of delivering news, the importance of intonation, pronunciation, and accuracy of breathing, as well as how to edit sound. Students are invited to try to record their voices while reading them. After that, they also analyzed the results of the recording.
On the other hand, those who decide to take part in the Success workshop in the Broadcasting World are invited by mentors from UMN TV to get to know more about the use of cameras in the world of TV broadcasting, learn to directly open and close broadcasts on the spot, and how to shoot properly. Not only that, at the end of the workshop the written exam must be done by the students. This test will be a benchmark for how far their knowledge is gained during the workshop.
The workshop was lively and enthusiastic. Many of the participants were asked and interested in exploring the knowledge obtained in the workshop in more depth. Many of them hope to be selected for an internship program that is a tribute to those who are considered prominent in this workshop program. However, this opportunity is limited.
The announcement of the names of the participants selected to participate in the internship program that will be held for 2 weeks, from Monday (29/6) – Friday (10-7) will be known tomorrow Friday (26/6). Are you that lucky guy? Wait for the announcement tomorrow. (*)
