April 20, 2017Many of us are only familiar with the word stock but don’t understand it in a way. Not infrequently shares are misrepresented. Playing stocks is the same as speculating and not infrequently harms many people who buy stocks. But is that really it? The answer is not necessarily. If you understand the movement of stocks and the benefits that can be obtained, investing through stocks can be something fun. So is there a fun way that can be taken to understand stocks in depth?
Through a talkshow titled “Making Money with Stocks and Cartoon” organized by Kontan and Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) at the Lecture Hall on Monday (7/3), Kontan wanted to provide more knowledge about investment and stocks through a medium called comics and cartoons. This talkshow was presented by Thomdean, national cartoonist who received the Adinegoro 2017 award and Lukas Setia Atmadja as a financial expert. The two collaborated to create stories in the business and investment-themed Duitto comics published in Kontan Daily.
Thomdean tells how the creative process in making Duitto characters and the challenges he faced in making business and investment-themed comics. According to him, this has its own breadth and makes him have a lot to learn about the business world. “Because, if you do not understand about the ins and outs and outs and terms in the business world and investment how can be created the maximum results of Duitto comics and cartoons. That’s why it’s important for me to learn a lot about this. Fortunately I have a colleague named Luke who gives a lot of ideas about the script to be made,” said Thomdean.
In addition, Lukas Setia Atmadja also tells a lot about the emergence of the character of Duitto and his longing to introduce the world of investment and stocks in a simple way to the wider community. “One easy way to learn something is through the medium of images, cartoons and comics. That is why Duitto was born in Kontan Daily, “he explained.
In this event, Kontan also invited talkshow participants from DKV and FTV study programs to participate in cartoon war competitions. The winner will get an interesting prize and his work will be exhibited at the Indonesia Stock Exchange. (*)
