Tangerang—To provide a comprehensive learning experience in film, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) will present the “Cinematography Learning Lab” at the UMN Function Hall from April 23 to 25, 2025.
This activity will facilitate participants’ hands-on sessions with cutting-edge cinematography equipment from well-known brands, including Aputure, Sony, Zeiss, Insta360, and Hollyland.
The event, free and open to the public, is in collaboration with Bisa Sinema and MSP Rental. Kus Sudarsono S.E., M.Sn., Head of UMN’s Film and Animation Study Program, said this activity aims to bridge theory with practice in the film production environment. Through this event, he also hopes to encourage the creation of creative and professional young filmmakers to bring new colors to Indonesian cinema.
“This event can be considered routine because we started it last year, which is held every semester. So, we are here to invite all of our friends to be able to join, explore, and experience how to use professional tools, without having to rent them ourselves,” said Kus Sudarsono, who is also familiarly called Dodo.
The “Cinematography Learning Lab” event will last three days. On April 23-24, 2025, participants will participate in an intensive session themed “The Art & Tech of Camera and Lighting.” This session will focus on in-depth learning of creative principles in cinematography and exploring camera and lighting technology from industry professionals.

Meanwhile, on April 25, 2025, participants will get hands-on experience in “On Set Simulation”. They will be involved in an on-set production simulation using professional equipment provided by MSP Rental.
CEO and owner of MSP Rental, Steven Moalim, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “This is our third event where MSP supports Bisa Sinema and collaborates with UMN to provide several workshops,” said Steven.
Steven expressed his hope that the participants could enjoy this session relaxed and less rigidly manner, different from the usually serious atmosphere of a seminar or workshop. At the end of his speech, Steven also thanked all the participants and invited them to have fun during the activity.
Bisa Sinema Founder Johannes Oscar added that the event was designed as a “playground” for movie enthusiasts. Participants can learn in one place for free and explore various aspects of cinematography.
“This event is like a playground where film enthusiasts can try out various film equipment supported by MSP Rental. So, there are various cameras, lenses, lighting, and set decoration prepared,” explained Oscar, who also teaches part-time at UMN’s Film and Animation Study Program.
This opportunity is expected to be a valuable platform for aspiring young filmmakers and anyone interested in cinematography to learn directly from professionals and try state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, this event also aims to help develop networks in the Indonesian film industry.
