Tabloid Bola again visited Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) on Wednesday (21/2). Unlike the 2016 “BOLA Goes to Campus” which enhances discussions about sports journalists, this year’s “BOLA Goes To Campus” provides workshop material around the world of Comic Strip to students. The purpose of this event is to provide insight to students, especially DKV UMN students about the steps to make cartoons or comics and know how to work in the media with jobdesc as a cartoonist.

This event took place in the Executive Lounge of Building A UMN by presenting two speakers, namely Hanung Kuncoro as the creator of “Si Gundul” and Also Muhammad Nasir as a Ball Cartoonist. Muhammad in this event revealed that mastering the technique of drawing caricatures is needed in making cartoons with the aim that the message to be conveyed in opinion cartoons can be easily digested by readers.
“A good opinion cartoon is one that has a constructive message, not only contains criticism that is nyinyir, the language of the image is easy to understand and able to move the reader’s response to smile because of the humorous element of sharp criticism,” muhammad said.
In addition, as a cartoonist not only learn a lot of drawing techniques but must have a broad insight by reading, discussing, following the development of the news with the aim that cartoonists can get used to analyzing a problem carefully and can capture the substance of a case.

During his visit to UMN in addition to holding seminars, Tabloid Bola also held a competition for UMN students to create a comic strip “Si Gundul”. The competition is 1 hour long with more than 15 participants. The prize offered in this competition is the Pen Tablet.

To enliven this event, there was also a caricature exhibition held in the LOBBY UMN Gedung B. The exhibition which took place from February 19-23, 2018 showcased the comic strip “The Gundul” and can be seen by all students. (YC)
