August 25, 2016TANGERANG – UMN, as a scientific tradition, Multimedia Nusantara University starts each new school year with a series of New Student Orientation (OMB) activities as a symbol of the phrase development of student life in the direction of new life. The highlight of the OMB series is the holding of an Open Senate Session – Inaugural Lecture, which presents speakers from young people by raising actual topics in the field of information technology.
After the implementation of OMB activities for two days, namely on Monday (22/8) and Tuesday (23/8), now the new students (MABA) are officially confirmed to be members of Multimedia Nusantara University through the First Open Senate Session. This procession is carried out directly by the rector of UMN and other rectorates to all MABA class of 2016.
Eleven selected students will be representatives of seven study programs in the MABA inauguration procession. They had used alma mater suits, then pinned pins by umn rector Dr. Ninok Leksono. Furthermore, they said the promise of MABA as a form of commitment to become UMN students who also uphold the vision and mission of UMN and always work and become pride for alma mater, persada and others.
Not only doing the inauguration procession, the MABA is also given the provision of knowledge and motivation to become mature, virtuous, and creative human beings, by presenting speakers from young people who are professionals in the field of information technology. “The speaker we chose so that new students of each generation are moved to be more creative in today’s world,” said Ignatius de Loyola Aryo Gurmilang as The Chief Executive officer of the Inaugural Lecture 2016.
In the 2016/2017 school year, the Inaugural Lecture raised the theme “Young, Independent and Creative” in accordance with the theme of OMB 2016. The word young describes new students as a new generation and young people who have high spirits, dare to be different from others, and are wise in making decisions. Merdeka symbolizes students who are independent, do not get carried away without clear arguments, are able to control themselves, have a mind that is always open to change, and dare to voice their opinions. While the work symbolizes students who are able to work not for the sake of self-wealth but also for others, alma mater and nusa bangsa.
To support the theme, Achmad Zaky as CEO of Bukalapak.com present as a speaker in the midst of MABA 2016. “We hope he can provide experience sharing in pioneering a business that prioritizes multimedia and technology (ITCFB) by touching the social aspects, youth spirit, independence to achieve dreams and high passion to work for the country,” aryo explained.
