Thermal & Fluid Science Laboratory
March 15, 2024As an inclusive university, UMN provides various services for students who experience learning difficulties due to mental or physical conditions, accidents, or other unforeseen events. Here is a list of supports you can find at the UMN campus to help you study better:
- Peer Teaching
Every year, UMN holds a series of peer teaching programs implemented to support all students, including those with learning disabilities. Through this initiative, students can learn from fellow students, improve their understanding of class material, network, and contribute to forming a helpful environment. - Library Assistance
University libraries play an important role in students’ learning success. In addition to providing access to books and other materials, UMN Library also offers special assistance in the form of library assistance. Students can consult with library staff for help with references, assignments, and final projects. In addition, students with visual impairments can access audiobooks, such as those accessible through Vital Source. - Asynchronous Classes with Sign Language
UMN ensures inclusivity in education by providing asynchronous videos accompanied by sign language videos. This approach allows students, including those with disabilities, to understand learning content at their own pace better. - Features for Students with Visual Impairments
To support students with low vision or visual impairments, UMN offers accessibility features installed on all campus computers running Windows 10. Features such as Magnifier, Color Contrast, and Narrator allow students with visual impairments to follow along with the learning material comfortably.
