Digital Interaction Laboratory
February 18, 2025As an inclusive university, UMN provides various support services for students who experience learning difficulties due to mental or physical conditions, accidents, or unexpected life events. Below are some of the support services available on campus to help you learn better:
- Peer Teaching
Every year, UMN organizes a series of peer teaching programs designed to support all students, including those with learning difficulties. Through these initiatives, students have the opportunity to learn from their peers, improve their understanding of course materials, expand their networks, and contribute to a supportive learning environment.
- Library Assistance
The university library plays a crucial role in students’ academic success. In addition to providing access to books and other resources, UMN’s library offers specialized assistance. Students can consult with library staff for help with references, assignments, and final projects. Additionally, visually impaired students can access audiobooks through platforms like Vital Source.
- Asynchronous Classes with Sign Language Interpretation
To ensure an inclusive learning experience, UMN provides asynchronous video lectures with sign language interpretation. This approach allows students, including those with disabilities, to engage with course content at their own pace.
- Accessibility Features for Students with Visual Impairments
To support students with low vision or visual impairments, UMN has installed accessibility features on all campus computers running Windows 10. Tools such as Magnifier, Color Contrast, and Narrator enable visually impaired students to access learning materials comfortably.
