Tangerang—On Wednesday (09/04/2025), Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomed Dr. Siti Salwa Salleh as associate professor at the College of Computing, Informatics & Mathematics, University Technology MARA (UiTM), Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. This presence is intended to expand the collaboration between UMN and UiTM.
UiTM, Malaysia, is a Malaysian university with 34 branches established in 1956. UMN and UiTM, Cawangan Perak, have previously collaborated. On this occasion, UMN found another collaboration with UiTM, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. This collaboration involves four UMN faculties.
“We are delighted that this collaboration continues. In addition to collaborating with one branch of the UiTM campus, I hope there will be more collaborations with UiTM. In line with UMN’s goal of internationalization, this collaboration is important for UMN and UMN lecturers,” Dr. Andrey Andoko, UMN Rector, said.
This collaboration will focus on joint research that focuses on certain areas, including research, curriculum, and other programs such as community outreach.
“I feel proud to be able to collaborate with UMN, seeing that UMN and UiTM have the same understanding. This visit is very valuable and I will bring home all the information, new ideas, and collaborative designs later,” Siti said.
For Siti, collaboration is fundamental. As a university, we need collaboration; the most important thing is that collaboration creates new ideas, and there will be more input.
“Another thing that is currently important is data visualization, it is still very new on the UiTM campus, and there are still few experts in that area. This is important. I certainly want to become an expert in this area, and of course, good collaboration is needed,” Siti continued.
Siti herself is interested in collaborating with many faculties in UMN, starting from the Faculty of Communication Sciences. Siti emphasizes leadership communication, which she believes is important and needs to be learned today. Of course, this does not rule out collaboration with other faculties.
“I hope this collaboration can align with UMN’s current goals. Besides internationalization, UMN also focuses on SDGs. It is hoped that this collaboration can be a good step for UMN and involve the faculties in UMN,” Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Sustainability, said.
Sari also agreed that data visualization is important. Several faculties in UMN, besides the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, also require data visualization in their courses. This is certainly to equip students for the industry later.
