Tangerang – The Drawing Class for Anxiety activity held on (13/10) discussed emotions and anxiety. The class provides students with ways to control their emotions.
Student Support UMN held a “Drawing for Anxiety” workshop. This activity is intended for UMN students. In this workshop, there are several activities that students can do, including workshops and drawing activities. Sonny Tirta Luzanil, M.Psi, a psychologist from Student Support UMN and Doctor Anne Nurfarina, M.Sn, an art therapist, presented this workshop.
Drawing for Anxiety aims to make students wiser in controlling their emotions so that they know how to properly channel emotions because we sometimes cannot control our emotions.
In the material presentation by Sonny Tirta Luzanil, M.Psi, he delivered material about emotions, like how we as humans can feel many emotions, both happy and sad, and that we ourselves are also the controllers of our own emotions.
“Our body feels emotions of anger, sadness, happiness, tiredness. If it accumulates in our body, it can make us think a lot. Usually, the overflow of these emotions is just waiting for us to release the emotion. If we are upset, it can make us angry. If we are very happy to the point of a maniac, it can make us too happy,” Sonny said.
After the presentation session by Sonny, the next drawing activity was presented by Doctor Anne Nurfarina, M.Sn, an art therapy expert. She chose the topic of anxiety because it is also a topic that is currently trending and widely discussed. In addition, there are now many new students who may not be accustomed to controlling their emotions.
“With this workshop, it is hoped that students can control their emotions through art therapy as a way to vent their emotions. We may also plan to conduct similar workshops if there is a lot of interest,” Anne said.
In this drawing activity, students follow the steps given by Doctor Anne. In addition, students are also invited to draw using markers without erasers. According to Anne, erasers may make us afraid to be wrong. This “Drawing for Anxiety” class indeed has taught students to control emotions properly and correctly through art therapy.
