TANGERANG – Kompas Gramedia held a seminar entitled “Digital Disruption and Transformation” on Friday (20/4) at the Lecture Theatre of Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN). This seminar was presented directly by Jayant Bhargava as Vice CEO of Kompas Gramedia.
Jayant said that the development of technology towards digital should not be a scary thing for us if we know how to deal with it. He revealed that Kompas Gramedia company is already sensitive and aware of the challenges in this digital era.
“It is how we use technology to do things better and faster,” jayant explained when explaining the benefits of digital transformation.
Jayant emphasized that in this era of digital technology, companies must optimize the use of data in running their business. He revealed that the management of data owned by Kompas Gramedia company is not inferior to other foreign companies based in Indonesia.
“This ecosystem relies a lot on data,” explains Jayant. “And we have a lot of data,” he added.
Jayant also revealed that in the face of the digital era, the company’s strategy must indeed adjust to the development of the technology. But for him, the company’s values should not be changed. For example, such values in Kompas Gramedia still survive one of them in having a positive impact on society.
Dwita Saraswati as the person in charge of this seminar said that the purpose of this event was to provide insight into the digital world for UMN students. In addition, he revealed that this seminar is also a means for Kompas Gramedia to tell students that the company is transforming towards digital.
“Because actually the thing that smells digital is not limited to IT children only, but to all majors,” said Dwita.
Dwita’s explanation is in line with what Mudita Nanda, a 2015 UMN Management student who attended this seminar, said. Mudita said that this seminar is more open to students’ insights about the world of work in the field that is already facing the digital era, so that students’ insights do not only come from textbooks.
“The most memorable thing, the statement (from Jayant) that we should not be afraid of digital disruption. We should think of it as an opportunity, not a threat,” Mudita said.
In the future, this seminar will also be held at other campuses to instill knowledge about kompas Gramedia company. It is expected that after graduating and looking for work, students can mention Kompas Gramedia as one of their options. (*/YC)
