Let’s say artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, deep learning, and many more. These three examples are applied to data science. Data Science itself still holds a lot of potential that can be developed.
Data Scientist is a profession that is sought after all over the world. Even so, there are still many people who have not studied data science in depth, even there are still many easy generations who do not understand about data at all. In Indonesia itself this prima donna profession still does not get much attention by the younger generation.
However, the government is aware that data is an important component to improve all aspects. Therefore, the Government launched the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) to prepare the younger generation who understand data. Here are the advantages that you will get if you work in the field of Data Scientist.
1. Flexible Work
Data Scientist can be said to be flexible jobs even many companies that accept their workers are out of town or abroad. Because data scientists can be done anywhere as long as they have internet access.
In this modern era many companies and start-ups are entering the industrial revolution 4.0. Even the LinkedIn version of the labor report states that jobs engaged in the field of data has increased 6-fold compared to 5 years ago.
Ironically, the company’s need for a Data Scientist is not in line with the availability of labor in this field. In fact, as many as 12 percent of company leaders do not understand how to analyze big data. About 10 percent of companies lack Data Scientist and 86 percent of companies are still looking for Data Scientist.So at least “data scientists” in Indonesia even one practitioner said that they often get offers to work even though they are still tied to the old company.
Especially Indonesia, which is a developing country. In Indonesia, many regions carry the concept of smart cities. That way the need for a Data Scientist continues to grow over time.

Data Science is a multidisciplinary science, which can be interpreted that Data Science consists of various sciences such as mathematics, statistics, data programming, machine learning, and many more. But when you study Data Science you will focus on 3 disciplines of science, namely:
- Machine Learning
This science is a slice of the science of mathematics and statistics with computer science. Machine learning is a machine that is developed to be able to learn by itself without the help of its maker. Machine learning includes other disciplines such as statistics, mathematics and data mining.
Machine learning is one of the branches of artificial intelligence (AI). In an AI, a lot of machine learning is needed to obtain existing data and learn that data in order to perform certain tasks.
- Traditional Software
Traditional software is a slice of computer science with SME (Subject Matter Expertise), SME is knowledge of the process of a business or agency to operate so that it can be created (develop) a system that can help the business or agency. The application of traditional software is almost used by all government agencies and businesses, such as e-learning, e-library, online banking, Point of Sales (PoS), and others.
- Traditional Research
Traditional research is a slice of mathematics and statistics with SME (Subject Matter Expertise). Traditional research is almost used by various companies, institutions and universities. The research conducted generally uses traditional research.
3. Take Part in Finding Innovation
A data scientist is very attached to the name of innovation. Many technologies exist thanks to data science. In this age data has become a valuable new wealth asset for companies or organizations. By utilizing accurate data the company can save budget and take decisions that are in accordance with the company’s target market
With accurate data Data Scientist can also prepare innovations needed by the community. Take, for example, chat bots. Chat bots are the result of combining Ai with machine learning so that it can respond according to what consumers are asking so that common questions can be answered quickly without having to make consumers wait long.
The more automated data scientists the more competition there is. Competition is very important for an industry, healthy competition will have a positive impact on society because there will be more fresh ideas and also improve existing technology.
