TANGERANG – UMN 2020 Accounting Students, Venson Fillio and Michael Yueri Tanujaya won 2nd place in the 2023 UIN Jakarta Accounting Competition at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, South Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday (12/1/23).
The competition attended by various students from well-known universities raised the theme “Improve Your Ability to Become a Competent Accountant and Unlimited Insight in This 5.0 Era.” At least, there are three rounds that the participants of this competition, including preliminary, semifinal, and final, must pass. Of the dozens of teams, Venson and Michael made it to the final stage and won second place.
“We didn’t expect to win against well-known campuses, such as the University of Indonesia, STAN State Finance Polytechnic, and others,” said Venson, because several obstacles were encountered during the competition.
This is because Venson and Michael admitted that they had misread the questions in the final round. However, this obstacle can finally be faced by finding good arguments so as not to panic.
“Actually, we are sure that if we don’t read it wrong, we can definitely get much better results and do not rule out the possibility of winning first place,” Venson and Michael said.
This is not the first time UMN accounting students have won achievements, both at international and national events. Venson and Michael are UMN accounting students who have previously achieved in various competitions.
Venson and Michael also revealed that there was no specific way to win in those various competitions. According to them, not taking your opponent lightly so that you have a winning mentality is the key to winning the competition.
“Apart from that, as teaching assistants, we do get some additional lessons or reviews that can deepen our knowledge regarding accounting lessons. Thus, we can be slightly superior when participating in the competition,” Michael said.
