Assessor Visit for Accreditation Assessment (Doc. UMN)
Tangerang, February 13, 2024 – After going through a fairly long assessment, the Master of Communications Study Program succeeded in obtaining the accreditation title “Excellent.” The National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi/BAN-PT) gives this assessment directly because UMN can fulfill the complete classification and requirements to obtain this title.
Happy news has just been obtained by the big family of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN). One of its proud study programs, the Master of Communications, officially holds the title “Excellent.” Of course, this is an outstanding achievement as a study program that has just turned 3 years old. Despite its relatively young age, with consistency and strong determination, UMN has proved that this campus has a high quality of education.
The Head of the Master of Communications Study Program, Dr. Agustinus Rusdianto Berto, S.Sos., M.Si., emphasized that the “Excellent” achievement reflects the high quality of all teaching activities, research, community service, and various other tasks that have been carried out by lecturers and Master of Communications students since 2021.
“It feels very satisfying and very proud because all the hard work of the Study Program & reaccreditation team has been paid off completely with the results of this highest achievement, namely Superior accreditation,” Berto said.
Previously, on February 19, 2024, UMN had two assessors tasked with assessing university accreditation. The two assessors who conducted the visitation were Prof. Dr. Puji Lestari, SIP., M.Si., and Dr. Mite Setiansah. The assessors were welcomed by university leaders, including Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., Vice-Rector for General Administration and Finance Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Ika Yanuarti, S.E., M.S.F, CSA, then the deans and heads of study programs.

In this time-consuming assessment, the assessors were introduced to UMN, especially the Master of Communication Science study program or the (Magister Ilmu Komunikasi/MIKOM) Study Program. In addition, they were also invited to tour the UMN building to see the facilities and services provided by the campus. Of course, the day of the assessment was anticipated and well-prepared by the accreditation team.
“The Accreditation Team has been preparing since long ago by collecting data and documents for reaccreditation. We also compiled forms as a submission for visitation and sent them to BAN-PT (submit) in June 2023,” Berto explained.
Based on UMN Rector Decree No.: 146/SK-R/III/2023, the Master of Communication Science Study Program, together with the Rectorate and other divisions, supported by important figures such as Mr. Andrey, Mrs. Friska, and Mr. Widi, began working as an Accreditation Team on March 16, 2023.

Berto shared his journey as he and the team prepared for this accreditation assessment. He revealed that one of the main requirements of the evaluation is to have graduates, which was fulfilled after the first batch graduated on June 24, 2023. Then, the second batch also successfully graduated in January 2024, making the spirit of the accreditation team even more motivated.
Not stopping there, Berto and other team members felt even more confident in welcoming this assessment with the MIKOM UMN lecturer who managed to increase his Academic Level Position (Jabatan Jenjang Akademik/JJA) to Head Lecturer Associate Professor (Lektor Kepala) 700, namely Dr. Endah Murwani, M.si. With these updates, the form data was re-submitted.
This accreditation assessment also considers internationalization in teaching, research, and community service. In addition, the increase in the number of applicants, students, and the quality of graduates is also assessed.
Based on the results of the decision letter received, MIKOM UMN obtained a score of 362. This score is considered good enough to get the “Excellent” title. After this, Berto and the other UMN leaders will prepare all the needs for international accreditation.
“In addition, based on the mandate of the Rectorate & FIKOM in the context of opening UMN’s PhD Program in Communications, the main requirement for obtaining a license to open the study program is to achieve ‘Excellent’ accreditation for the Master of Communications Study Program. Hence, we hope that the submission process can be resumed so that UMN can make history by successfully having a PhD Program in Communications,” Berto concluded.
