JAKARTA – The Film and Animation Study Program of Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) has been entrusted by the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Direktorat Jenderal Guru dan Tenaga Kependidikan/Dirjen GTK), Ministry of Education and Culture, to work on 99 learning videos for the Merdeka Mengajar platform. This is the first experience for UMN to work on a government project using the Swakelola 3 scheme. The contract signing was carried out on Tuesday (5/30/2023).
Starting from an invitation sent by the Director General of GTK on the recommendation of the Film and Television Study Program Association (Perkumpulan Program Studi Film dan Televisi/PROSFISI), UMN, together with 8 other private universities that have Film and Television study programs were asked to work on this learning video.
In the end, 7 private universities were selected, including UMN, with a total of 99 videos out of 312 to be completed by November 30, 2023.
UMN Film and Animation Study Program Lecturer and Chief Executive Kemal Hasan explained that the video that UMN will make is a video intended for teachers and education personnel so that they can learn how to teach better.
“(it will be) In the form of training videos that will be placed on the Merdeka Mengajar application and can be accessed by teachers and education personnel anywhere and anytime, and can help them develop their teaching skills,” Kemal explained.
The implementation team from UMN involves collaboration with Lab. Faculty of Art and Design, Multimedia Nusantara Polytechnic (MNP), UMN’s Learning Development Bureau (BPP), Multimedia Digital Nusantara (MDN), and it is hoped that other study programs can collaborate.
Kemal hopes that this project can be an example of how lecturers, staff, and students can work together, which is an extension of the teaching and learning process outside of the classroom. This is a process of transferring knowledge directly in the field.
“Hopefully, after this project, UMN will continue to gain trust from the government, especially the Ministry of Education and Culture,” Kemal concluded.
The Film and Animation Study Program also feels a sense of pride and happiness because they have been trusted to participate in making this 99 video prototype. It will also involve lecturers and students with their internship schemes.
The head of UMN’s Film and Animation Study Program and the managing team in charge, Kus Sudarsono (Dodo), explained that in this project, he would also direct several videos. Currently, he is in the stage of studying the existing script and starting to make treatments and storyboards.
“It’s still in the early stages, and so far, it’s going well. Hopefully, with this project, we can participate in developing education in Indonesia, especially through the independent learning platform,” said Dodo.
