September 13, 2021Qualified With 82 Other Global Students, Information System UMN Student Becomes Indonesia’s Representative for UiPath Student Developer Champion
September 15, 2021Lately the news about cryptocurrencies is on the rise, yes, you can see news about crypto in various media, such as Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, even TV. The problem that is often faced by cryptocurrency players is the type of crypto coin that is many.
This makes the player quite difficult to monitor, plus the price goes up and down in a matter of seconds. Now you don’t need to worry, departing from the problem, a student of Information Systems semester 7 Multimedia Nusantara University has the idea to create an application called Pencil that is suitable for crypto investors! Let’s take a peek at his profile!
Starting from the fad of crypto investment, Kevin Widjaja managed to create a startup that is very helpful for investors. At first, Kevin had difficulty when he recorded a list of crypto coins that he had bought. Kevin still writes manuals in Microsoft Excel so there are some missed transactions, he also needs to use the formula to calculate the profit and loss that has been obtained. The fluctuations that exist in the crypto market are also very high, even changing every second. This is the basic idea of the formation of Pencil, a portfolio registrar application with local flavors so that it is easy to use by the people of Indonesia.

Previously, Kevin Widjaja as THE CEO of Pencil had joined a startup called ‘Gajiku’ which is a project of technopreneurship courses. My own salary earned the first champion at Startup Weekend Indonesia UMN 2020 and the National Public Favorite Startup champion at the national level. However, there are some obstacles that need to be faced so that my salary is not continued. Armed with considerable experience, Kevin finally invited his friends to create a new startup called Pencil.
Pencil decided to join Skystar Ventures batch 8 to get a lot of knowledge and networking that can add to the team’s insights. One of the most useful sciences for Pencil is a mentoring session hosted by Arvy Budiarto as CEO of Agile Technica. Arvy teaches that a startup can take advantage of plugins and frameworks that are openly available on the internet, so there’s no need to code from scratch.
The most memorable words for the Pencil team from the mentoring session were “Don’t reinvent the wheel” because someone created the “wheel.” All you need to do is design various components to be a good application. Not long after, the Pencil team immediately split the task and worked. Well, it turns out that Skystar Ventures mentoring sessions can provide encouragement for the participants huh!
Currently, Pencil is focusing on developing its application on the Android platform as the main product. In addition, promotions through instagram social media @pensilcrypto are also being maximized by the team. Who can’t wait to use the pencil app? Stay tune! Don’t forget to follow their Instagram on @pensilcrypto.
