July 27, 2022TANGERANG, 20/07/2022 – As a form of support for the Government’s vaccination program in Bali, students of the Faculty of Communication Studies of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi/FIKOM UMN) conducted a digital campaign #BaliBangkitKembali (#BaliRisesAgain) from April to July 2022.
Irwan Fakhruddin, the Head of this UMN Project explained that Bali is one of eight provinces in Indonesia with the highest Covid-19 cases. As a barometer of the development of national tourism, Bali has become the target of a campaign to intensify vaccinations, especially for the elderly and disabled, so that Bali can recover and bounce back.
“The #BaliBangkitKembali campaign aims to increase awareness among the elderly and disabled by ensuring the importance of programs and adherence to health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, so that Bali can recover and rise in the health, tourism, and economic sectors,” Irwan explained when met at UMN on Wednesday (20/7).
There is a collaboration between the Regional State Intelligence Agency and schools to provide locations for vaccination for the elderly and health to provide them vaccinations. However, there is a lack of understanding about comorbidities, unfriendly vaccination locations for the disabled, and the lack of vaccine accessibility in remote areas. These are the reasons why the campaign was started.
“We see that there is still a lack of understanding of the elderly and disabled groups about comorbidities, then vaccinating locations in Bali are not friendly for disabled groups, as well as the lack of vaccine accessibility in remote areas. This is what drives us to intensify the campaign,” Irwan continued.
It is known that the city of Denpasar became the city with the highest number of positive confirmed cases and deaths in Bali in March 2022. Meanwhile, the number of poor people in Buleleng is the highest in 2021, and the number of vaccinations in Buleleng Regency is also the lowest in Bali based on bps.go.id data. Seeing these conditions, Bali Campaign Planner Pricilla Halim explained that the #BaliBangkitKembali campaign was aimed at the Elderly and Deaf group in Bali, especially the Denpasar and Buleleng areas, through the @heltikom Instagram account.
“The content that we upload on the @heltikom account starts from information about the COVID-19 pandemic, hoaxes, vaccinations, health protocols, productive activities, to G20 preparations in Bali which are implemented in the form of infographics, videos, e-posters, and other content- other interactive content,” Pricil explained.
This campaign is also supported by local Balinese media, Dermatologist Eka Ciptasari, and the BISAbilitas Home Community, who also distributed content through their Instagram page.
“Our synergies and collaborations provide positive energy, enthusiasm, mutual inspiration, and creativity among people with disabilities. We hope that in the future, people with disabilities will be more resilient,” Agung Adiputra, the BISAbilitas Home Community Manager, said.
With the achievement of the campaign objectives, the #BaliBangkitKembali campaign can be said to be successful. The increasing number of vaccinations, especially for the elderly and disabled groups in Denpasar City and Buleleng Regency, gives hope that Bali will truly recover.
“The implementation of the #BaliBangkitKembali campaign is going well. Hopefully, in the future Bali can recover,” Pricil concluded.
The #BaliBangkitKembali campaign is a series of UMN partnership programs with the Australia Indonesia Health Security Partnership (AIHSP) entitled Nusantara Health Security Project (NHSP), which was launched online on Wednesday (9/2). This partnership aims to provide information about the COVID-19 vaccination program to target groups of vulnerable groups (elderly and disabled) in four provinces in Indonesia, namely Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Bali, and South Sulawesi, through digital campaigns on social media.
