September 16, 2019TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) has a unique policy, namely the application of odd-even elevators in one of its buildings. This policy is applied to overcome elevator queues at every class change hour, especially at 08.00, 11.00 and 13.00.
Queues that occur during rush hours are caused by the many differences in floor destinations. Regarding the implementation of this policy, one of UMN’s Communication Science students Laurenvia Fendriyun revealed that the up and downs of elevators became faster.
“I agree with the odd-even elevator. It is very suitable to be applied in building D. If there is an odd-even elevator it feels really different, faster, do not need to wait long, and more regularly as well. People who choose to even for example, it will definitely go down on (the floor) even doang right, so it’s more crowded the current up and down the elevator”, said Laurenvia.
This policy divides the elevator into two parts; the left part for the elevator with odd floors and the right for elevators with even floors. Both the elevator ride and the elevator down the same setting. With arrangements like this, the queues are originally long, becoming more organized. The time of use of the elevator also becomes more effective and efficient.

Agreeing with Laurenvia, Continuing Education Department (CED) Manager umn Arif Kurnia said the application of odd-even lifts in building C is appropriate. However, the implementation in building D is still not necessary.
“Yes agree (odd-even elevator policy), because it is more regular yes. So, the queue is faster. Only if building D may actually not need in the near future, because it (users) have not serame building C and elevators in building D more”, said Arif.

Meanwhile, UMN Multimedia Journalism Lecturer Ignatius Haryanto admitted that the queue in the morning is not too long, because it is divided by the category of floor to be addressed.
“Students have already chosen which elevator will be their destination. I hope the application of odd-even elevators in building C can be applied in building D, because the building has begun to be operated and needs division as done in building C,” ignatius concluded.
Well, for those of you who do not know about this policy jangat surprised huh! Let us equally optimize the use of existing elevators so that our time can all be used effectively and efficiently. (SN/CRA)
