TANGERANG – The Journalism study program at Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) held a public lecture by inviting Empu Ageng (Dr Hc) Oscar Motuloh as a speaker. The public lecture discusses “Visual Journeys in the Media” for the two Journalism courses which are Photojournalism and News Graphic and Design held at the UMN Campus, on Wednesday (12/4/2023).
Oscar is a journalist who currently serves as Head of the Museum Division and the ANTARA Photojournalism Gallery at the ANTARA news agency. He started his journalistic career as a reporter at the National News Agency ANTARA in 1988. Two years later he was assigned to the Press Photo Division and led the division from 2004 to 2009.
With his experience and expertise in the field of photojournalism, Oscar shared his experience with fellow UMN Journalism students. So that the young Journalism generation can find out about the trend of media faces from the past to the present.

According to UMN Journalism lecturer Taufan Wijaya, S.Sos., M.A., apart from being a journalist, Oscar is the founder of the Mata Waktu Research Foundation which also accommodates the visual field. In addition, there are also infographics and caricature exhibitions in newspapers.
“This is relevant to enrich our friends about what the appearance of the media has been like from the past to the present,” Taufan said.
Taufan hopes that friends with the knowledge from this public lecture, students can see the trends, including the need to highlight fundamental things such as ethnicity and what can and cannot be done in journalism.
On this occasion, Oscar delivered material on the Evolution of Photojournalism. Where he shared his experience in the world of written journalism and photojournalism in the media from time to time.
Oscar shared tips on becoming a journalist. He shared that journalists must use visual language and use a variety of approaches. So that the journalism major can develop into a real synergy.
“While still in college as a student, sharpen your ideas, leave a little bit of our little brain to cultivate the widest possible knowledge. Make Google only used as a reference,” he said.
