July 30, 2021Tangerang – As many as 11 students of Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) joined the “GEN Z Innovator Search Program” organized by Isobar (a Group of Dentsu Indonesia) together with Ajinomoto. Divided into three groups, these 11 students will carry out a series of business idea mentoring programs which are divided into three stages: Trend Spotting, New Biz Ideation, and Consultancy and Evaluation.
The first group of UMN consisted of Chiendova Kesuma, Danielle Grace, Prasasti Rahayu, and Aldo Hasan. The second group consisted of Astika Prima, Rachel Anastasia, and Angelina Sanjaya. The third group consisted of Isabella Rosane, Victoria de Greatha, Fellicia Hennita, and Cherie Jesslyn. Each group will be accompanied by a professional mentor of Isobar.
Irwan Fakhruddin, S.Sn., M.I. Kom. as a lecturer of the Communication Science in UMN and Program Coordinator from UMN, said that this program is important in developing students’ competencies, honing soft and hard skills, and providing hands-on experience in real simulations in the industry. This program is also in line with the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) Curriculum which is being implemented at every university in Indonesia.
“To be able to join this program, students of Communication Studies, Management, Information Systems, and Visual Communication Design Study Programs were selected strictly to choose the best 3 students each. After the selection, students were immediately included in the GEN Z Innovator Search Program with a collaborative pattern that combines students of different study programs in one team under the assistance of Isobar/Dentsu and, of course, the client as the owner of the Multinational Brand,” said Irwan, explaining further the selection process for UMN students to join this program.
The program will be kicked off on Wednesday (28/7) online by bringing directly the Director of PT Ajinomoto Indonesia, Tsuneo Ono, to represent Ajinomoto as the Brand Owner and Project Owner of this program. Sr. advisor of Dentsu Indonesia, Janoe Arijanto, was also present with a mentor from Isobar as the Project Leader and Mentor of this program.

After this Kick-off, participants accompanied by mentors will be invited to enter the early stages of the program, namely Trend Spotting, in which the participants will be invited to see and look for trends that are currently in the community including community habits, industrial development, and product innovations that are useful for planning projects, that the groups will work on.
The second stage is New Biz Ideation, in which the participants and mentors will design a business idea based on the knowledge and information obtained from the previous stage. At the end of this stage, participants will be asked to present the project they are working on.
The last stage is Consultancy & Evaluation, in which the participants and mentors will pitch business ideas that have been done in the previous stages. The business ideas will be evaluated by a jury and three business ideas will be executed with the team of Ajinomoto.
“This program is important for students to experience firsthand how the industry works. Students will learn firsthand how to become a professional in building and, subsequently, executing a business idea with the assistance of an experienced mentor. In fact, this program is also implemented in Thailand (with Thammasat university) and the Philippines (De La Salle University and University of the Asia and the Pacific) so that students got a true learning curve with real case-real clients through this global program,” said Irwan in explaining his hopes for UMN’s students who joined this program.
