UMN’s Permanent Professor Inauguration, A New Step to Encourage Educational Progress

Tangerang – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has officially inaugurated two permanent professors on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The honorees are Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., UMN’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., Dean of the Faculty of Business. Both delivered scientific orations on digital transformation within their respective fields.

Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia was appointed as a Professor of Information Systems Science, while Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T. was confirmed as a Professor of Technology Management Science. Their appointments were formalized through the 2024 Professor Appointment Decree issued by the Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The decree was officially presented by Prof. Dr. Toni Toharudin, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of LLDIKTI Region III, on Monday, January 6, 2024.

“It is an honor for UMN to appoint two professors. Both conduct research aligned with UMN’s focus and goals—artificial intelligence and sustainability. Through this inauguration, we gain new knowledge that will drive future discoveries and contributions,” said Dr. Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., UMN Rector, in his opening remarks.

Dr. Andrey hopes that the inauguration of UMN’s two professors and the appointment of Dr. Ninok Leksono, M.A., as a Visiting Professor at UCSI Malaysia will enhance the quality of UMN’s education and graduates. He also emphasized that professorship is not the end of academic achievement but the beginning of greater contributions to Indonesian educationfor a prosperous future.

The ceremony proceeded with the first scientific oration, delivered by Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., titled: “Utilization of Artificial Intelligence to Assist the Disease Diagnosis Process: Case Study of Chronic Low Back Pain.” In her oration, Prof. Friska expressed hope that her information system research would significantly contribute to Indonesia’s healthcare sector, particularly in supporting medical professionals with disease diagnosis.

“AI plays a crucial role in computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems. The medical field is at the forefront of technological innovation. My research demonstrates how AI in CAD can assist in diagnosing various diseases,” she stated.

She clarified that AI does not replace doctors but serves as a professional assistant, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment outcomes. Prof. Friska hopes this research will strengthen healthcare services in Indonesia.

The second scientific oration was presented by Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., titled: “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through Accelerated Adoption of Financial Technology Toward Sustainable Economic Growth.”

“This research analyzes the role of financial technology in empowering women entrepreneurs, particularly in financial literacy, inclusion, and FinTech networks supporting women-led businesses,” Prof. Sari explained.

She highlighted that her study aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and industry innovation and infrastructure. She hopes this research will promote technology adoption for women entrepreneurs and improve financial management practices. She also urged government bodies and regulators to create a trusted financial ecosystem and enhance financial education for women.

The event continued with the appointment of Prof. Dr. Ninok Leksono, M.A., as a Visiting Professor at UCSI Malaysia, represented by Dr. Eva Lim Wei Lee, Head of Programme for PhD and DBA at UCSI Malaysia. As one of UMN’s partner universities, UCSI Malaysia has engaged in various collaborative initiatives with UMN.

He emphasized that professors play a strategic role in mentoring young academics, fostering research excellence, and inspiring future scholars. He hopes this marks the beginning of an academic journey with widespread impact, encouraging more Indonesian scholars to advance their fields.
