TANGERANG—On Tuesday (21/01/2025), Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomed Dankook University, Korea (DKU), to the UMN campus. The meeting aimed to strengthen the partnership and discuss possible collaboration ideas.
“We established cooperation a long time ago, and now it is time to strengthen our partnership and have new activities between UMN and Dankook University,” Boby Arinto, S.E., M.M., UMN Global Office Manager, said, welcoming DKU representatives and starting the meeting.
Kim Sunho, the Manager of the Dankook Education Team’s International Student Recruitment (English), firstly shared his deepest condolences for the passing of Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc.
“I will never forget her dedication and effort in the relationship between Dankook University and UMN. We hope to discuss the possibility of cooperation in the near future,” Sunho said.
Sunho shared that DKU found UMN to have developed plentily and sees UMN as one of the fastest-growing universities in Indonesia. He also wants to collaborate with UMN’s postgraduate degree programs.
Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., UMN Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, is open to Sunho’s collaboration ideas and has shared other ideas from UMN.
“We would also increase the opportunities for UMN students to conduct student exchanges and have a short course program. UMN students can have a one-week visit to DKU and even do an industry visit, preparing students to be industry-ready before graduating,” Friska said.
“You can send us your students for one semester or one year, but our students would like to join your short programs,” Sunho said. Korean students are very interested in Indonesian culture and would like to stay longer in Indonesia to learn.
A collaboration in student exchanges between UMN and DKU was deeply discussed, with both parties sharing their experience in sending their students to other international universities and even discussing scholarships.
“We can first renew our MoU, and then we can conduct a MoA for the student exchange collaboration,” Friska said.
Many other interesting collaboration ideas were poured into the discussion, such as a local teacher training program for the Korean language, lecturer exchange, research collaboration, international internships, and more. More discussion must be done to officialize the collaboration ideas.
“Thank you very much for your time. We are looking forward to work closely again in the near future!” Sunho said.
