UMN’s Pekantara Emphasizes Gender Equality for Students

TANGERANG – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomed another visit from Silla University on Thursday (09/01/2024). Several UMN and Silla University representatives attended the meeting, which discussed the ongoing KSU4IRTC (KOICA Silla UMN 4th Industrial Revolution Technical Center) program and future collaborations.
“I hope we can have more discussion about the cooperation between our two universities that have been friends for so long,” Prof. Dr. Muliawati Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc, UMN Vice-Rector for Relations and Cooperation, said.
“UMN and Silla University have a great relationship and we want to build a stronger relationship in the future,” Prof. Lee Kwon Ho, Silla University representative, said.
KSU4IRTC is a collaborative free training program developed by UMN, Silla University in South Korea, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Launched in 2020, the program aims to equip Indonesian graduates with specialized skills relevant to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, focusing on two main tracks: Smart Factory operations and Cloud-Big Data technologies.
The program is designed for recent graduates in engineering, informatics, and related fields. It offers 7-8 weeks of intensive training using advanced facilities like the Smart Factory Lab and Big Data Cloud Lab.
“There are more companies in Indonesia that are transforming into the Industry 4.0. They need workers, engineers, and technicians who are ready to work in those companies. Hence, Indonesian companies need technical training. Many companies are investments of the Republic of Korea in Indonesia. They recruit the alumni from our training program,” Lee said.
KSU4IRTC has a proven track record of facilitating employment opportunities, including placements in prominent companies like PT Hyundai LG Indonesia. KSU4IRTC is a key initiative to enhance employability and foster technological advancement in Indonesia.
“We have been running this program for six batches, and we will continue with the seventh batch this semester,” Lee said.
The program has had positive results, helping students get relevant skills for free and land a job immediately. It is hoped that KOICA can positively evaluate KSU4IRTC’s results and will continue to support the program.
After discussing the KSU4IRTC program briefly, Dr. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc., the Dean of the UMN Informatics and Engineering Faculty, invites Silla University to collaborate.
“We focus on AI, cybersecurity, smart factory, green building, and more. We want to learn more about those from Korean professors, so we are inviting all of you to collaborate and come to Indonesia again in the future,” Niki said. UMN’s Faculty of Engineering and Informatics and Silla University can collaborate in student exchange programs, lecturers, and others.
Overall, KSU4IRTC is a significant international collaboration that empowers Indonesian graduates with the skills necessary to thrive in the evolving Industry 4.0 landscape. We hope that the collaboration between UMN, Silla University, and KOICA can continue to grow and positively impact the nation’s technological advancement and economic development.
