Jakarta – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) held a sharing session at Pendopo Bukit Sinyonya, Bandung Village, Pandeglang, on Friday (11/22/2024). This activity was conducted in collaboration with Muhammad Imran Ahmad from the University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), and appropriate technology was discussed to help develop agriculture in Bandung Village.
Andy Firmansyah, Monika Evelin Johan, Angga Aditya Permana, SY. Yuliani, and Marlinda Vasty Overbeek hosted this activity in collaboration with UniMAP. 60 farmers, including food, horticultural, and fish farmers, and 10 Bandung Village government officials attended the event.
Materials Taught in This Activity
Andy said that the people who attended this activity were taught materials about smart farming. Learning about smart farming is essential, considering that farmers in Bandung Village have not utilized technology to run an agricultural business. Technology can help them in terms of time and labor efficiency.
“We compared the agricultural conditions in the village with those in Malaysia and discussed agricultural tools that could be used in the village. Prof. Imran, the resource person, also delivered the material in Malay so the community could understand it well. Through the video shown, the community gets an overview of the tools presented,” Andy told UMN News Service.

The selection of Bandung Village as a participant in this activity was also not done without reason. The village is considered to have agricultural potential, considering that most of the people there work as farmers.
“However, they still use traditional methods to process agriculture. With this activity, we invite farmers to introduce more innovative ways to facilitate their work,” he said.
Expectations Regarding This Activity
Through this activity, it is hoped that the village community can learn about advanced agricultural techniques used in neighboring countries, including innovations in agriculture that can also be done in Indonesia.
“For example, a bird pest repellent tool utilizes IoT and is very efficient in time and energy. The community is also very excited about technological innovations they are unfamiliar with that can make their work easier,” Andy said.
