April 11, 2023UMN’s Green Campus: Leading Water Conservation Through Innovation
April 18, 2023Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is embracing cutting-edge sustainability standards through its Green Campus initiative. Guided by GREENSIP for New Buildings by the Green Building Council Indonesia and the Regulation by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Permen PUPR No. 21 of 2021 on Green Buildings, UMN ensures that every new building and renovation on campus meets the highest standards of environmental responsibility and energy efficiency. These standards are implemented and governed through UMN’s Green Campus Policy, ensuring sustainable practices across the campus.
In collaboration with the Green Building Council Indonesia, UMN adheres to GREENSIP standards that covers every aspect of green building from energy efficiency to water conservation, and environmentally friendly materials. GREENSIP’s latest version emphasizes performance in areas such as indoor air quality, green space preservation, and energy efficiency, making it an ideal benchmark for UMN’s commitment to sustainability.
UMN’s Green Campus policy incorporates the Permen PUPR No. 21 of 2021, which establishes comprehensive guidelines on sustainable building practices. This regulation mandates energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources, and responsible resource management throughout the design, construction, and maintenance stages. UMN’s compliance with this regulation ensures that every facility is built to minimize environmental impact, enhance energy conservation, and support long-term sustainability goals.
Aligned with these standards, UMN’s infrastructure includes ample Green Open Spaces (RTH) that contribute to campus biodiversity and well-being. Efficient water use is ensured through advanced conservation practices, including rainwater harvesting and water recycling systems, while sustainable waste management adheres to reduce, reuse, and recycle principles.
With GREENSIP and Permen PUPR guidelines embedded into every project, UMN’s Green Campus reflects a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and a sustainable future. Through responsible construction practices, energy-efficient designs, and natural resource conservation, UMN is setting a new standard in higher education for creating eco-friendly, climate-resilient campuses.
The Green Campus policy exemplifies UMN’s dedication to integrating environmental responsibility across its facilities, paving the way for future generations and providing a model of sustainability for academic institutions nationwide.
