April 30, 2024TANGERANG – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara is upgrading with a commitment to becoming a World Class University and competing internationally. Through high-quality education, UMN earned 4 Stars from the international ranking agency QS Stars World University Rating.
UMN Rector Dr. Ninok Leksono admitted that QS Stars is part of UMN’s roadmap to enter the international arena. According to him, this achievement is also proof of UMN’s hard work in realizing internationalization and the spirit of inclusiveness.
“Through QS, there is pride, but also realizing that there are still things that need to be improved, especially if you want to enter QS Rank. But, once again, this is a step towards UMN’s internationalization that we should appreciate,” Ninok said.
QS Stars is a ranking system for universities worldwide to measure the quality of higher education, ranging from learning, absorption of graduates in the workforce, and online learning to inclusiveness. Based on these international standards, UMN has achieved 5 Stars for the indicators of teaching, employability, online learning, and inclusiveness.
Currently, UMN’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., emphasized that UMN has and continues to work on improving the QS Stars indicators to meet international education standards. This achievement does not necessarily make UMN complacent. Friska targets UMN to be included in the QS Asia Ranking to increase the interest of international students studying at UMN.
“The steps taken are to create several internationalization programs, such as the Mobility Program, International Competition, and Visiting Professor, to encourage foreign students to take part in learning, and UMN students can collaborate with foreign students,” said Friska.
Various QS indicators achieved by UMN with superior scores will continue to develop. These efforts consist of improving the competence of teaching staff and facilities, updating the curriculum according to industry needs, bringing in practitioners, producing asynchronous content, developing learning management system features, providing scholarships to outstanding students, and providing inclusivity for people with disabilities.
These achievements are expected to encourage UMN to continue improving the quality of higher education to become the best, produce graduates with the skills needed by industry, have excellent competitiveness, and positively impact Indonesian society.
