TANGERANG – As one of the universities in Indonesia, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) supports the Government’s program to increase access and opportunities to study in higher education for high school graduates or equivalent from Papua, West Papua and the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged areas (terdepan, terluar, dan tertinggal/3T), by providing Higher Education Affirmation Scholarships (Afirmasi Pendidikan Tinggi/ADik) to five students from these areas.
One of UMN’s ADik Scholarship recipients is Sopice Selfina Kehek from Sorong, Papua. Sopice is currently enrolled as a student in UMN’s Management Study Program class of 2019.

Sopice’s receipt of the ADik scholarship began with her receiving the Affirmation Scholarship for Secondary Education (Afirmasi Pendidikan Menengah/ADEM) during high school. After graduating from high school, ADEM scholarship recipients can continue to college through the ADik Scholarship route but must participate in a selection.
“I learned about the ADik scholarship in junior high school and was told by the principal that there was a special scholarship for Papuan children with good academic potential. That’s when I registered myself to the Sorong Regency Education Office and took part in the selection through my report card,” Sopice said.
Furthermore, Sopice revealed his reasons for choosing UMN as her university of choice.
“Apart from the attractive building and the cool campus, I also know that UMN is one of the private universities with complete learning facilities, which is why I chose UMN,” Sopice said.
Sopice herself was very happy to be one of the ADik scholarship recipients and thanked the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia as the organizer of the ADik scholarship.
“I feel delighted to have the opportunity to study at college, especially at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara through the ADik Scholarship program, and I am also very grateful to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education as the organizer of this program because it can equalize access to education in Papua and West Papua provinces,” Sopice said.
UMN Rector Dr. Ninok Leksono said that UMN’s participation in the ADik scholarship is a self-reflection for UMN in carrying out the noble mission of nation-building through students from various parts of Indonesia.
“Through this program (ADik), UMN supports the Government’s policy for equal access to higher education. UMN can also fulfil the spirit of Nusantara, which is written in the name Nusantara in UMN, where UMN can reflect itself to become a ‘Mini Indonesia,’ which was highly coveted by Mr Jakob Oetama as the founder of UMN. UMN must be able to carry out the noble mission of nation-building through the presence of students from various parts of Indonesia,” Ninok said, who was met at the UMN Open Senate Session on Friday (9/8).
