IMOVICCON 2023 was held again with a different theme this year in collaboration with the Pelita Harapan University campus. IMOVICCON is an International Moving Image Cultures Conference held every two years to empower future filmmakers. The third IMOVICCON was held on the UMN campus on (31/10).

As the third IMOVICCON celebration, the theme was “The Past, Present and Future of Moving Image Culture” because it is essential for us always to examine the past, present and future. According to Cahya, this theme was chosen because the development of culture and technology is what happened in the past and what we live in the present, so both will shape the future. So either students or creators are important always to see what has happened to moving images and can be a consideration of which ones are good and bad.
This activity collaborates with Universitas Pelita Harapan because they see the same vision and mission towards moving image culture. UMN chose to collaborate with UPH because UPH is a good collaborator, and together, they can maintain this vision of becoming a collaborative international conference. However, it does not rule out the possibility that UMN will collaborate with other campuses, such as LJMU and Swinburne, in IMOVICCON 2023.
Welcome speech from Friska Natalia. (Doc. UMN).
“We collaborate with UPH with the hope that we can share knowledge, and solve problems regarding current issues such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) because AI has an impact on moving image culture, production and also post-production,” said Friska in the opening. So, students here can also learn and continue to develop and achieve the same goal.
Remarks from the Head of The Faculty of Arts and Design. (Doc. UMN).
“IMOVICCON 2023 is bigger than the previous year. The event is more varied, there is more interaction in the session, and the screening of works is also very interesting. The participants who participated in this activity were also very enthusiastic, which is proof. The effort given by Ms. Rista, Ms. Salima, Mr. Perdana and Mr. Levintius as the core committee was extraordinary. The 3rd IMOVICCON is a benchmark for the IMOVICCON series in the future,” Cahya said about this activity.
