UMN Kembali Terpilih menjadi PTS Paling Hijau di Jakarta Tahun 2019
December 5, 2019Through GOWES, UMN Makes a Breakthrough to Reduce Carbon Emissions
February 25, 2020TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) became the 3rd best ranked university in terms of energy and water management in Indonesia. While in the world, UMN is ranked 60th in the category of energy management and climate change (Energy &Climate Change) and ranked 41st in water management (Waste).
This achievement was achieved by UMN based on UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2019 research where in general UMN was ranked 13th sustainable green campus in Indonesia and ranked 1st PTS (Private University) greenest in Jakarta.
In response, Umn Vice Rector II Andrey Andoko said that energy and water conditions are increasingly expensive and scarce, encouraging energy and water management to be important to do.
“Currently energy prices are getting more expensive, fossil energy is also increasingly depleted and contributing to global warming. For that, energy must be saved. Water must also be saved, because it is feared that many areas will experience water shortages,” Andrey said at the UMN campus on Tuesday (10/12).
By having green buildings and saving energy and water, UMN contributes to preserving the environment.
“UMN has buildings that are energy and water efficient. Wastewater is recycled so that it can be reused, rainwater is accommodated and flowed to the ground through biopori so that no (water) is wasted,” he continued.
Learn Energy Management at UMN
As a campus that has energy-efficient buildings at the national and ASEAN levels, UMN facilitates learning related to energy management and green buildings through physical engineering study programs.
Chairman of the Umn Physics Engineering Study Program Muhammad Salehuddin explained that the ownership of energy-efficient buildings became the advantage of UMN Physical Engineering. Students can learn the science in theory and its application for real.
“Not all campuses have energy-efficient buildings. At UMN, these energy-efficient buildings actually become living laboratories for Physics Engineering students. Students not only study energy saving building technology in theory, but also learn in real terms the application of the technology, so that UMN becomes the greenest PTS in Jakarta, “he explained.
In addition, before the practice of internship, UMN students also get certification in the field of green building which becomes added value for them.
“Before the internship, UMN Physics Engineering students will get green building certification. This will certainly be a plus for them to be ready to enter the industrial world,” he concluded. (CRA)
