TANGERANG – IPMI International Business School in collaboration with several universities in the LLDIKTI III region held a virtual seminar entitled “UI GreenMetric Workshop for Universities in LLDIKTI Region III 2020” on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Andrey Andoko M.Sc, as Vice Rector of Multimedia Nusantara University also attended this online seminar as a speaker representing UMN.
UI GreenMetric program which has been present since 2010 and international standard is initiated by the University of Indonesia. This online seminar was guided by Lia Hadiati and Deddy M. Kresnoputro as Head of HR & Administration / Coordinator of UGM High School. Prof. Ir.M. Aman Wirakartakusumah., M.Sc., Ph.D. as Chairman of IPMI College of Management, Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc., M.M as Chairman of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and Prof. Dr. Agus Setyo Budi, M.Sc. as Head of LLDIKTI Region III started this event with an opening speech.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari as Chairman of UI GreenMetric explained the purpose of this event, “This event is the fulfillment of the 14th Sustainable Development Goals in the field of partnership. May Indonesian campuses be a pilot center for educational, technological and cultural development for environmental problems. It also works together to transmit morale and implement six environmental indicators.”
GreenMetric UI initially only makes environmental problems as a benchmark of ranking. “Now we will also consider indicators of social and economic impact. We set the GreenMetric UI Ranking by looking at campus issues from six indicators. We can do small things on campus to maintain the environment,” said Prof. Dr. Ir Tommy Ilyas, M. Eng. as Expert Staff ui GreenMetric University of Indonesia. The six GreenMetric UI indicators in question are Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research.
In total, there are 780 World Universities from 85 Countries that have joined UI GreenMetric. On an international scale, the first ranking of UI GreenMetric 2019 is occupied by Wageningen University & Research. It was second to the University of Oxford and third place, the University of California, Davis. In the National GreenMetric UI ranking, Multimedia Nusantara University ranked 13th with energy & climate change and water indicators in third position. With the ranking obtained, Andrey Andoko as Vice Rector of Multimedia Nusantara University, shared about water treatment and energy savings that have been done.
Also present included, Dr. Eko Adi Prasetyanto as Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation of the Catholic University of Indonesia Atma Jaya; Prof. Dr. Wahono Sumaryono, Apt as Rector of Pancasila University; Dr. Ir. Wendi Usino, M.Sc., MM. as Rector of Budi Luhur University; Prof. Dr. Ernawati Sinaga M.S., Apt as Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of the National University who discussed the campus dedication to environmental conservation by applying six indicators. At the end of the event, the GreenMetric UI Declaration was read from 12 Universities in Indonesia that participated in the Ui GreenMetric World Ranking.
“Our hope as the host, in the future the concept of a green environment can continue to grow. This is supported by a change in mindset and real action from the campus community. Ui GreenMetric efforts must continue even in the midst of a pandemic situation like this,” said Prof. Ir.M. Aman Wirakartakusumah., M.Sc., Ph.D. as the host in the online seminar organizer. Prof. Aman also said that Multimedia Nusantara University will host the Ui GreenMetric 2021 Workshop. (ABA/SN)
