August 23, 2016The 2016 New Student Orientation Series (OMB) has officially started on Monday (22/8). This year, OMB UMN is packed with interesting, putting forward various activities that can make prospective new students more familiar with their alma mater and foster a spirit to learn and work.
OMB’s first day began with the implementation of the flag ceremony in the UMN parking lot, Monday (22/8), led directly by UMN Rector Dr. Ninok Leksono, who also inaugurated the opening of the orientation period with the beating of gongs. In his speech, Ninok asserted that OMB is not a hazing event, but an activity where new students are invited to get to know the campus environment better.
More than 1,700 new students who have been divided into several groups are invited to do a campus tour. There are several posts scattered around the campus environment such as the UMN lobby where they are described about Skystar Ventures (UMN incubator business) and the New Media Tower building, where new students (MABA) are introduced to the student service and career development center. In addition, MABA is also acquainted with student bodies on campus such as the Student Executive Board (BEM), the Association of Departments and the Student Family Council (DKBM).
Furthermore, this OMB week in 2016 raised the theme of Young, Independent, Work, which encourages these young people to have a high spirit, be independent, have an open mind and be able to work. “By conveying values in an adult and transparent manner, these UMN MABA are expected to develop into healthy, mature, and mature people, so that MABA can enrich itself, others, and also for the nation,” said Aryo Gumilang, managing chairman of OMB 2016.
